My searches have shown me that it is difficult to create a theme for eclipse. Having gone through the trouble of trying to get the eclipse editor to play nice with my Zenburn theme in other apps and the Zenburn-like them for kde, I can see why. The settings are all over the place. I will list the important places to go in the settings so that I will remember how to do it later if I need to.
All of the following are important places in the Window -> Preferences dialog.
- General / Editors / Text Editors / Annotations - Occurrences and Write Occurrences, these pesky ones are the colors for "mark occurences."
- General / Editors / Text Editors - Current Line Highlight, This is an important one if you are trying to give Eclipse a dark theme.
- General / Appearance / Colors and Fonts - Basic and Java have a bunch of generally useful colors to set.
- Java / Editor / Syntax Coloring - You will need to pull in the colors for the syntax highlighting if you are going for a low contrast theme.
